Recipe for cut out sugar cookies

These cut out cookies are delicious. Use real butter because the dough will get harder when chilled so that the cookies will be easier to roll and cut. The butter makes the cookies taste better too.

The cookies in the picture are Mike and I working around the farm.

1 cup soft butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/2 cups flour
Cream butter and sugar well.
Beat in eggs, vanilla, baking powder and salt.
Gradually blend in flour.
Chill dough at least 3 hours.
Divide dough in half (keep other half chilled until ready to roll)
Roll dough out on lightly floured surface 1/8" to 1/4" thick. (Thicker cookies are softer)
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes depending on the shape of the cookie. If you like soft cookies take them out when the underside starts to turn golden.
Decorate and enjoy!
